The yellow-fruited psidium cattleianum, also known as the strawberry tree, is a great choice for any exotic fruit lover. Compared to the more commonly grown red variety, it has larger and sweeter fruits that grow up to 5 cm in size. It comes from Central and South America, but you can easily grow it here too.
This unpretentious fruit tree is ideal for a flower pot, where you can simply shape and trim it so that it does not exceed 100 cm in height. Its fruits will enchant you with their sweet taste, which resembles a combination of strawberries, papaya and bananas. You will be most pleased with its long fertility - it starts in late spring and continues until the end of February.
If you are looking for something unusual and yet unpretentious, yellow psidium is the right choice!
