Myrciaria caerulescens - a rare exotic treasure for your collection

Myrciaria caerulescens previously known as Myrciaria sp roxa - Blue Guaquiea. an extremely rare and newly described fruit plant from the Espinhaço Mountains in Brazil. The Espinhaço Mountains are a mountain range in Brazil that is 1100 km long and is larger than the European Alps with an altitude of 900 to 2000 meters. There is a lot of wind, dry, cold winters (up to 5 degrees) and humid summers with high levels of sunshine. The soils are very poor in nutrients and shallow. The PH value is very low and contains high levels of aluminum!

This dwarf variety only grows to 1-2 meters, which is ideal for growing in a pot.

The fruits are unique

The fruits of this plant are incredibly sweet with a slightly sour aftertaste that resembles grape juice. Many growers claim that it is even better than the classic Jaboticaba! They have a dark blue to purple color, which is a rarity among Myrciariaceae.

The natural environment of Myrciaria caerulescens is poor, acidic soils rich in iron with a high content of quartz sand. It is grown exclusively in a flower pot, where it thrives in a well-permeable substrate composed of sand, peat and chert stones. It tolerates drought and lower temperatures and can bear fruit in a container in 2-3 years.

A perfect choice for growing at home

Thanks to its compact growth and unpretentiousness, it is ideal for an apartment, terrace or winter garden. Enough light and adequate watering are enough.

A plant that will excite you!
