Myrciaria glazioviana - cabelluda 23€

Out of stock Preparing to spring 2026

Myrciaria glazioviana, also known as yellow jaboticaba or cabeludinha, is a rare tropical tree native to Brazil that is gradually finding its way into the collections of growers around the world. It is still relatively rare outside its homeland, which makes it an interesting and undiscovered species for anyone looking for something special.

The plant grows like a shrub and looks very lively from a young age thanks to its finely pubescent leaves and young shoots. The flowers are small, white and appear in small clusters. One of the most interesting features is the method of fruiting - the fruits are formed directly on the trunk and stronger branches, which is a typical feature of jaboticaba and always attracts attention..

The fruits are round, yellow, slightly pubescent and resemble a larger gooseberry in size. The flesh is juicy, sweet and aromatic, with a taste reminiscent of a combination of apricot and lychee. Thanks to their taste, they are ideal for direct consumption and are among the very pleasant tropical fruits.

A great advantage is that the plant starts to bear fruit relatively early, often at a height of around one meter, so you don't have to wait many years for the first harvest. Although it grows rather slowly, it maintains a compact size in a container and is also well suited for cultivation in our conditions as a portable plant.

It does best in a bright location, in slightly acidic, permeable soil and with regular watering. It likes heat and higher humidity, but with proper care it adapts well and rewards itself with healthy growth and the first fruits.

Cabeludinha is an ideal choice for growers who want to expand their collection with a less common species with attractive fruits and an interesting growth habit that is not easy to look at.
