Eugenia uniflora ZILLS BLACK – tropical beauty with delicious fruits
Discover the magic of the Brazilian cherry, known as pitanga, which enchants with its beautiful fruits, ornamental appearance and ease of cultivation. This evergreen shrub or smaller tree comes from tropical South America, where it grows mainly in Brazil.

It has glossy dark green leaves that turn an attractive reddish-brown color when sprouting. In spring, it is covered with tiny white flowers that attract pollinators. Pitanga fruits have a typical ribbed shape and change color from green to orange to dark red or even black as they ripen. They are juicy, sweet, aromatic and their taste is reminiscent of cherries, but with an exotic touch.

This unpretentious plant is also ideal for beginners. When grown in a pot, it grows 100-150 cm and can be easily shaped. We offer seedlings of a specially bred variety from the USA, which will reward you with large, black and incredibly sweet fruits. The first fruits appear approximately three years after planting.
The fruits can be eaten fresh, but they can also be used to make jams, syrups, juices or liqueurs. Their distinctive aroma perfectly complements desserts and other delicacies.
Pitanga easily adapts to different conditions and can be grown in both tropical and subtropical climates. In milder zones, it is enough to protect it from frost and overwinter in a bright place.
Treat yourself to a piece of exoticism right at your home!
