Physalis peruviana 'Little Buddha' is a unique variety of Peruvian custard apple with huge fruits that are two to three times larger than the variety 'Peter's Best'. The round, slightly flattened berries have a beautiful yellow-orange color and juicy flesh with a fruity flavor that carries notes of coconut and vanilla. Due to their size, they provide an intense taste experience and are a great addition not only to salads and desserts, but also as a decoration for dishes.
The offered plants come from cuttings of the mother plant, which guarantees their authenticity and the corresponding characteristics of this variety. The pictures capture the difference in fruit size between our Little Buddha variety and commonly available plants.
The plant grows up to 200 cm and has a slightly sparser and taller growth than 'Peter's Best'. Physalis can be successfully grown as an annual - it flowers and bears fruit in the first year. In its natural environment, it is a perennial, but it is not frost-resistant, so it can be overwintered in a bright place at a temperature of 10-15 ° C. It grows best in a sunny and warm location. Harvesting begins around mid-July, a little later than 'Peter's Best'.
The fruits are rich in provitamin A, vitamins B and C, which makes them a great choice for strengthening immunity and a healthy lifestyle. Treat yourself to a unique experience of growing this gigantic cranberry and enjoy its juicy fruits straight from the bush or in your favorite recipes.
