Robusta coffee tree (Coffea canephora) – an exotic plant for your home
Grow your own coffee with the Robusta coffee plant! The seeds of this hardy and undemanding plant come from the well-known Bolaven Plateau region in Laos and are ideal for growing in a pot. Its fruits are approximately 1.5 cm in size and contain twice as much caffeine as Arabica coffee. Robusta is also less demanding to care for than Arabica, more resistant to pests and diseases, and already in the third year you can harvest your own coffee beans.
The plant prefers diffused light and temperatures between 20–25 °C. For the winter, move it to a room with a temperature of 15–20 °C and limit watering. Regular watering and fertilizing is suitable, especially during the period of growth and fruit formation. The coffee tree is easy to grow in a pot, it grows 1–2 meters tall by forming, which makes harvesting easier.
Add the Robusta coffee plant to your plant collection and enjoy the possibility of harvesting coffee at home.
