Annona Squamosa

Out of stock Preparing for the summer 2025

The sugar apple, also known as sweetsop or custard apple, is a tropical tree prized for its sweet, aromatic fruit with a soft, creamy flesh. It bears fruit after only 2-3 years, and the fruits grow to a size of 6.5-10 cm. They are harvested when they soften and acquire a light green to yellowish color.

It grows best in warm tropical to subtropical climates with temperatures between 22-34°C. It is only hardy to -2°C, so it is recommended in colder areas to grow in a greenhouse or in containers Requires full sun and a well-drained loamy or sandy soil with a pH of 6.5-8.0. It has a shallow root system that tolerates drought well, as the tree sheds its leaves during the dry season.

It requires regular watering, especially during the period of growth and fertility, but does not tolerate overwatering. The soil should always be moist but well drained. Fertilizing with a slow-release, balanced fertilizer such as Osmocote Plus promotes healthy growth and fertility.
